There was a bit of a buzz around the Disabled Photographers Society’s booth at The Photography Show (TPS) 2017. As always, there was plenty of weird and wonderful second-hand photography equipment on sale, and even a few bargains to be had. Lok went along to meet the team of DPS volunteers at the society’s booth, and he found out a little more about the charity, and even tried to help them sell a few cameras.
The Disabled Photographers Society (DPS) is a national charity run by disabled photographers for disabled photographers, with more than 500 members.
With an aim of promoting photography for people with disabilities, the society offers members themed competitions, a quarterly magazine, hosts a portfolio group, forum, member galleries and websites and awards photographic distinctions.
A significant part of what the society does is to adapt cameras so that disabled people can still enjoy photography.
Would you consider donating some of your unwanted photography equipment, books or software to DPS? If so, you can contact the team by email at chairman@the-dps.co.uk or go to the website for more information http://www.the-dps.co.uk/
