You may have already seen that we’ve been hard at work testing out what the iPhone X’s camera is capable of producing in terms of stills. But that, of course, is only half of the story.
The next step – see what kind of videos it can produce. And if you’re going to do that, it makes sense to enlist the help of the experts. So we asked filmmaker and PGN contributor Daniel Peters if he wouldn’t mind taking the iPhone X out for a spin.
Watch the video above to join Lok as he follows Daniel on his day with the iPhone X – filming Olympic figure skater, model and actress Maria Sergejeva. Despite the greyness of the London weather (of course), the pair put the phone through several scenarios and situations to get a thorough sense of what it can do. While the performance was by and large excellent, there were a few surprises, so it’s worth having a watch for yourself.
Lok’s video was filmed on the iPhone 8 Plus, so comparing the video above with Daniel’s final film, below, should give you some idea as to the difference in output between the two cameras.
Daniel’s video was shot entirely on the iPhone X, using the Zhiyun Smooth 3 handheld gimbal. For car shots he used the Rigwheels mount, he used the Shoulderpod Grip to attach the phone to the magnetic plate, and the final shot was created with the assistance of the Charters Pole.
Thanks to Daniel and Maria for their help with this video. You can follow Daniel on YouTube and Instagram, and Maria on Instagram and Twitter.
