Sick of bumping against the storage limits on your iPhone? Kingston has you covered with its new storage companion. Introducing Bolt.
At least, we’re pretty sure it’s called Bolt. The naming conventions for the new device seem a little confusing – in one short announcement the product is interchangeably referred to as ‘DataTraveler® Bolt™ Duo’, ‘DTBolt’ and ‘Bolt’ – however the pitch and concept are refreshingly simple. It’s basically a flash drive for your iPhone (or iPad), offering extra storage in 32GB, 64GB or 128GB flavours.
The whole thing is based around simplicity – plug it in, download the app and go. You can transfer images to the Bolt at your leisure, or even shoot images and videos directly onto it thanks to Lightning connectivity (why they gave it Lightning compatibility but didn’t call it ‘Lightning Bolt’ we honestly cannot say).
It’s also designed to be portable, and comes with a handy belt clip for take-everywhere convenience.
We like the look of the Bolt – the concept is nice and straightforward, and it’s nice to see a different approach to the problem of iPhone storage limits, especially with apps taking up more and more digital real estate.
