South Korean lens maker Samyang extends its ‘budget-level’ cine lens range for full frame DSLR and mirrorless cameras through the new Samyang 16mm T2.6 cine lens.
The 13 lenses in the range cover focal lengths from an 8mm fisheye to a 135mm telephoto, when used with full frame sensors.
Designed with video shooting in mind, the manual focus Samyang 16mm T2.6 can be used with professional follow focus systems, thanks to its uncoupled gear rings with T numbers.
Like other lenses in the range, the de-clicked focus and aperture ‘gear’ rings provide smooth and quiet operation.
Sitting between the 14mm and 20mm lenses in the range, the Samyang 16mm T2.6 cine lens has an optical construction of 14 elements in 11 groups, 9-blade circular aperture and a minimum focus distance of 0.3m.
If previous Samyang cine lenses are anything to go by, one can expect excellent image quality, especially for the price point.
According to Samyang, the lens is compatible with 10 different lens mounts, including Canon EOS, Nikon AE, Pentax K, Sony Alpha, Canon M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Sony E, FT and MFT
Available in June 2017, the Samyang 16mm T2.6 cine lens has a suggested RRP of £529 inc vat.
